Visiting the Steinhardt Museum in Tel Aviv.

Not far from Tel Aviv we found a small lake with rich vegetation around. On its shore grew yellow flowers which were visited by colorful Jewel Beetles.

Anthaxia sponsa Kiesenwetter, 1857. On the picture the purple variation violacea Bílý, 1977 is shown which is only known from the Near East.

Species of Acmaeodera especially of the subgenus Acmaeotethya sitting under loose bark of dry sunexposed branches of different kind of wood, for example of oaks. We could find Acmaeodera ottomana (Frivaldszky, 1837), Acmaeodera simulans Abeille de Perrin, 1891, Acmaeodera biseriata Reitter, 1890, Acmaeodera saxicola Spinola, 1838 and Acmaeodera crinita Gory, 1840 with that kind of method sometimes very common.

Acmaeodera ottomana (Frivaldszky, 1837) can be found on yellow flowers or on dead branches of oaks.

Lomelosia prolifera (L.) Greuter & Burdet.

Typical forest with Pinus brutia Ten. and Quercus coccifera L. on Mount Carmel.

Anthaxia israelita Abeille de Perrin, 1882 which is endemic to the Near East and represent Anthaxia escalerinella Novak, 1988 from Morocco in this Region.

Cistus creticus L.

Anthaxia praeclara Mannerheim, 1837 a common species which take its development in wood of Pinus. Adults visiting different flowers, most of all pink Cistus.

The house centipedes Scutigera coleoptrata (Linnaeus, 1758) a monster in the night.

Mount Meron and its surroundings.

Anthaxia pinguis Kirsch, 1880, a typical species of Pine Forests.

Anthaxia discicollis Gory & Laporte, 1839. In Israel this species reaches the southest part of its whole Distribution.

Anthaxia eugeniae Ganglbauer, 1885. In Israel the subspecies halperini Niehuis, 1993 is present. Females differs in color from the nominate form.

Rubus sanctus Schreb. is hostplant for the following Jewel Beetle.
